WordPress is a software platform, just like what runs on your phone. If you don’t back up the data on your phone, losing or damaging it will mean losing photos and contact info forever. And, if you don’t update apps, your phone gets glitchy.

Similarly, without WordPress maintenance, your website will show errors, run slowly, and be at risk for hacking.
